Brand Data

Company Name: Commander Motors Corp.

Place: Chicago, Illinois

Country: United States

Commander Motors Corporation was established in 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, with the intention of producing a new automobile model known as the Commander. The company was founded by Hugo Ogren, who aimed to replace the Ogren touring car, which had been struggling in the market. The Commander was intended to compete in the same price range as the Ogren, starting at approximately $5,000.

To promote the Commander, Ogren utilized a rebadged version of the existing Ogren touring car, which featured the Whyte Motor Control system. This innovative design centralized all dashboard instruments within the driver's reach, enhancing usability. Despite these efforts, the launch of the Commander proved unsuccessful, leading to the dissolution of Commander Motors Corporation. Shortly thereafter, the Ogren Motor Company in Milwaukee also ceased operations, marking the end of both ventures.
