Elite Junior was a miniature vehicle produced by the Hughson & Burchett Motor Company, which was based in Newark, New Jersey. Founded in 1907, the company aimed to create a child-friendly automobile that resembled full-sized cars in appearance.
The Elite Junior was specifically designed for children aged four to eight years. It featured elements such as a bonnet, lamps, wings, and an upholstered seat, giving it a realistic car-like look. However, it was lightweight, weighing no more than 60 pounds (27 kg), and was intended for use on smooth, level surfaces only.
The vehicle operated using a coil spring mechanism, which allowed it to be powered by a single wind-up, providing enough energy for a distance of one-eighth of a mile. This innovative approach catered to the needs of young children, offering them a safe and enjoyable driving experience.
