Ajax Motors Co. was an American automobile manufacturer based in Racine, Wisconsin, that operated briefly from 1925 to 1926. The company was established as a subsidiary of Nash Motors, which aimed to market a more affordable vehicle under a different brand name. Production took place in the former Mitchell factory in Racine.
The Ajax lineup consisted of two body styles: a tourer and a sedan. Both models were powered by a 2,786 cc side-valve six-cylinder engine, notable for its seven-bearing crankshaft, which was relatively uncommon in vehicles within its price range. In its inaugural year, Ajax Motors achieved sales of 22,122 units, indicating a positive reception in the market.
However, the rationale for maintaining a separate brand became questionable, as the Ajax was essentially a rebranded version of a Nash vehicle. Consequently, in 1926, the Ajax was rebranded as the Nash Light Six. Existing Ajax vehicles in dealer inventories were updated with new nameplates and hubcaps to reflect the change.
