Nota was an Australian sports and racing car manufacturer founded in 1952 by Guy Buckingham. Based in Sydney and later Dural, New South Wales, it produced a long succession of lightweight specialist competition and road-oriented models. Early cars included space-framed sports racers and single-seaters such as Formula Junior and Formula Vee designs, while the company also built the alloy-bodied Streamliner and Mazengarb cars. Company history described Buckingham’s aircraft engineering background as an important influence on Nota’s chassis design and construction methods.
Later development was closely associated with Chris Buckingham, and the marque expanded into a wide range of sports and kit-based models including the Sapphire, Sportsman, Fang, Marauder, F1, Chimera, and Le Mans. Nota remained active for decades as a low-volume constructor, with the Sportsman and Fang among its best-known cars.
