Bergantin

The Bergantin was an automobile produced by Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA) at its plant in Santa Isabel, Córdoba, Argentina.

The car originated from a 1959 initiative by IKA president James McCloud, who sought to create a European-style automobile using Jeep mechanical components already being manufactured in Argentina. This effort was known internally as Project X-60. To realize the design, McCloud traveled to Europe, where Alfa Romeo agreed to sell IKA the dies for its recently discontinued 1900 saloon. The resulting vehicle, the Bergantin, closely resembled the Alfa Romeo 1900 in appearance but was fitted with a 2,480cc Jeep engine and other Jeep-derived components, including the rear axle.

Production of the Bergantin began on 10 March 1960 and continued until 21 February 1962. During this period, IKA built a total of 4,796 units, offered in Standard, De Luxe, and Taxi variants.
