Mazda Announces New Design Theme: 'KODO - Soul of Motion'- World debut of Mazda SHINARI, the first concept car embodying new design theme -HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation today announced Mazda's new design theme, 'KODO - Soul of Motion', and the design concept model, Mazda SHINARI, a pure expression of this new theme.Since launching its first passenger car, the Mazda R360 Coupe, exactly 50 years ago, Mazda has spent many years exploring the concept of 'motion,' offering customers designs that are exciting both to view and to drive. In particular, since the launch of the Zoom-Zoom brand message, Mazda has pursued the concept of more athletic and sporty motion, and has adopted dynamic designs for all Mazda models starting with the Mazda6 and followed by the RX-8 and the Mazda2. In recent years, this motion-based design has been further extended to incorporate the theme of 'motion inspired by nature', embodied in the Mazda NAGARE concept car series and the all-new Mazda5.As a result of these initiatives, since the launch of the first Mazda6 in 2002, Mazda design has been the subject of great acclaim, receiving 30 global awards for car design alone.
Canadian company De Macross Motors Corp. released the first images of their GT1 supercar. Currently existing only in a 1/4 scale model form the new supercar will feature American 5.4-litre V8 Roush Yates Racing Engines and carbonfibre-aluminium chassis. The first working example may be finished in November, 2010.
Mazda showed Mazda Shinari Concept at a private event in Milan, Italy on 30th of August. Following a previous design language known as the 'Flow' or 'Nagare'*, the new concept sedan introduces a new direction for Mazda's future design. It is named Kodo and means soul or motion in Japanese. Not much details are known about this concept car, which reminds Infiniti Essence Concept, so stay tuned for updates until its public premiere at Paris Motor Show this October.* The first Nagare-themed concept car appeared at 2006 Los Angeles Moto Show.
Lotus has taken the award winning Evora and re-created it with a 350 PS 3.5l V6 engine to create the Evora S. Established in March 2006 by Arash Farboud, the man who is responsible for Farbio/Farboud GTS sportscar (now owned by Ginetta), Arash Motor Company has been developing their first supercar since then. The first non-running mock-up has been shown in British International Motor Show 2006 in London. The design has been revised and now the car features full carbonfibre structure with aluminium honeycomb and nomex panels as well as modular carbon chassis. Side and front windows are made or laminated glass while the rear one is made of plastic. Mid-mounted GM LS7 V8 7-litre engine develops 550hp at 6200 rpm, maximum torque of 555 Nm at 4800 rpm and is mated to 6-speed Graziano GT-ME1 gearbox.
