Wiesmann teases Project Gecko to be revealed in 2020

Sep 17, 2019

AN EVOLUTION NOT A REVOLUTION

Project Gecko is Wiesmann’s latest yet-to-be-unveiled car. More evolution than revolution, it stays true to the Wiesmann DNA and continues to push the engineering envelope of supercar manufacturing. Project Gecko promises nothing less than extraordinary aesthetics and performance, to delight sports car connoisseurs once again.

Signifying a rebirth of the company, it typifies Wiesmann’s maverick spirit by marrying German engineering with British design sensibility. Due for release in 2020, it has yet to be revealed to the world, and the entire project remains firmly under wraps.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Wiesmann reopened in 2016 and immediately set about designing a prototype for a new sports car that would pay homage to everything the company stands for: a timeless design matched with excellent German engineering, resulting in a true driver’s car. That prototype is called Project Gecko, and much more than just a new model, it represents the rebirth of Germany’s most-loved sports car.

THE PAST AND THE FUTURE

An extraordinary feat of engineering, the new Wiesmann automobile features the BMW M’s TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine, perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution, a front mid-engine layout, rear-wheel drive and a suite of striking design elements which come together to create something truly extraordinary. The car is faster, more powerful, more dynamic and more dramatic than previous models.

BUILT BY HAND

The Project Gecko concept was brought to life at the Gecko factory, the state-of-the-art facility in Dülmen, Germany, and everything from the creation of the double monocoque to the bespoke upholstery has been created in the factory, with the Wiesmann team carrying out a great deal of in-house engineering and production.
