Joss supercar debuts at Melbourne Motor Show

Jul 01, 2011

Joss which is intended to be the first Australian supercar was first shown at Melbourne Motor Show in 2004. Demonstrated as a prototype the sportscoupe from down under was then built around composite aluminium and honeycomb steel space frame and was equipped with a mid-mounted 6.8-litre V8 engine developing 500hp at 5750 rpm and 650Nm of torque at 2800 rpm. Proposed weight of the vehicle was just 940 kg thus enabling the car to accelerate from zero to hundred in 3.7 seconds.

Matthew Thomas - the main person behind the still nameless Joss supercar - has a rich automotive experience including work at Jackie Stewart's F1 team as well as Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar and other.

It seems the period of painstaking development of the long-awaited Australian supercar is nearing completion. Joss Developments already teased the production version of the automobile in 2009. The proposed specifications then included an all aluminium mid-mounted V8 engine developing 500hp and carbon fibre bodywork. The Joss, as soon as it reaches production, will accelerate in 3.5 seconds and develop a top speed of 340 km/h.

Recently, Joss has relased the latest renderings of the soon-to-be-released  supercar. The world premiere will take place at Melbourne motor Show which starts today (1st July).

More infotmation will follow later. Stay tuned!
