Embree

Embree-McLean Carriage Company was established in 1889 in St. Louis, Missouri, initially focusing on the production of horse-drawn carriages. In a strategic move to adapt to the changing automotive landscape, the company ventured into automobile manufacturing in 1909.

The company offered a range of vehicles powered by three different engines, with outputs of 30, 35, and 40 horsepower. They produced cars with three distinct wheelbases measuring 105, 116, and 120 inches. Despite ambitious plans to manufacture 500 vehicles in 1910, the company faced significant financial difficulties and declared bankruptcy by July of that year, having likely completed only a fraction of their production goals.

The brief existence of Embree-McLean in the automotive sector highlighted the challenges faced by early automobile manufacturers during a period of rapid industry growth and competition.
