AVA Cars was a British automotive manufacturer that operated in two distinct periods, first from 1986 to 1987 and then again from 1990 to 1991. The company was based in Somerset and later in Bristol.
The most notable model produced by AVA Cars was the AVA K1, a kit-built convertible designed by Nick Topliss. The AVA K1 was distinguished by its aerodynamic design, boasting a coefficient of drag (Cd) figure of 0.295, which was considered impressive for its time. The vehicle was constructed around the Ford Escort Mk3, utilizing a stainless steel chassis tub that accommodated subframes. Its body was made of fiberglass and was designed as a single piece, featuring shallow doors.
After its initial production run, the AVA K1 project was sold to a German company. However, the brand made a brief reappearance in the UK market in 1990, although it did not achieve lasting success.
