Gateau International was a French microcar manufacturer based in St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, operational from 1983 to 1992. The brand's name, which translates to "cake" in French, reflected a playful approach to automotive design. The company's inaugural model, the Egzo-7, was introduced with a unique styling by designer Joël Brétecher and was pronounced "exocet."

The Egzo-7 featured a diverse range of engine options, including sizes from 50cc to 500cc, alongside two electric variants with power outputs of 1.8 kW and 2.2 kW. Although the company initially offered petrol engines, these were soon phased out in favor of diesel engines, which became the primary focus of the brand's offerings. Throughout its production run, the Egzo-7 underwent several name changes, being referred to as the Egzo-3, Maximini, Break, and Grande, while maintaining its fundamental design.

In 1988, Gateau expanded its lineup with the introduction of the Vison model, which was equipped with a 325cc diesel engine. This model received a facelift in 1991, resulting in a new frontal design and a subsequent renaming to Forum. Despite its innovative approach and varied offerings, Gateau International ceased operations in 1992.
