DKW-Vemag was a Brazilian automotive manufacturer that operated from 1956 to 1967, based in São Paulo. The company was a subsidiary of Vemag, which was established in 1945. DKW-Vemag is recognized as the first Brazilian-made passenger vehicle manufacturer, producing vehicles that were essentially adaptations of the German DKW Sonderklasse.
The production of DKW-Vemag commenced with the introduction of a station wagon in November 1956, followed by a four-door saloon model. Notably, the Brazilian versions of these vehicles featured some modifications, such as the absence of a heater, which reflected the local climate. The company also produced a variant of the DKW Munga, known as the Candango, available in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations.
One of the last models produced by DKW-Vemag was the Vemag-Fissore, a two-door saloon designed in Italy but manufactured in Brazil using standard DKW mechanical components. By 1967, DKW-Vemag ceased production of its two-stroke vehicles when the company was absorbed by Volkswagen. In total, 2,489 units of the Fissore were produced during its brief production run.
