2011-01-25 Gumpert announces a brand-new Tornante for Geneva Motor Show

Gumpert is a German supercar manufacturer active since 2005 whose lineup currently consists of a single model - Apollo - which is available in several versions: basic, Sport, Race and Speed. The basic Apollo version is equipped with MTM-tuned 4.2-liter bi-turbo engine of Audi origin which develops 650 hp @ 6000 rpm and 850 Nm. The upgraded engine of the Apollo Sport develops 750 hp and 900 Nm while a non street-legal Apollo R is powered by Apollo Race engine developing impressive 840 hp and 950 Nm at maximum. The Apollo Speed develops an optional 650 / 700 / 800 HP and a torque of 850 / 875 / 900 Nm.
However, Gumpert has just announced a brand-new mdoel for the Geneva Motor Show. Named Tornante, the new 'Fast Tourer' is developed by a newly reborn Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring. The new V8-powered car will feature a new mid-engine chassis and a new carbon-fiber bodywork.
No official images of the Tornante has been released by Gumpert so far, so stay tuned for official information!

GUMPERT gets a TOURING SUPERLEGGERA design for the second model of the range
World premiere of the GUMPERT TORNANTE by TOURING in Geneva
TOURING SUPERLEGGERA was commissioned by GUMPERT to design their upcoming new model, a 2-seater Fast Tourer based on a new central engine chassis and V8-powered driveline. After setting new benchmarks for driving dynamics of street legal cars with the apollo, GUMPERT requested the Milanese designer to add space, elegance and comfort to their typical sheer performance attitude. The result is a blend of very Italian sporty elegance and German high-end engineering.
The GUMPERT TORNANTE by TOURING opens a new class of automobiles born for the extremely dynamic and fast voyage, the Fast Tourers. The Tornante features the original Superleggera construction principle: composite body panels on a space frame with carbon fiber monocoque. The car will be unveiled on March 1st 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show.
