The Development of Eco Friendly Automobiles

Currently, the auto industry is obsessed with eco-friendly automobiles. This is be-cause the green car revolution has been accelerated by numerous countries making plans to ban the sale of petrol and diesel automobiles in the near future.

Additionally, there are all kinds of excellent eco-friendly cars on the marketplace with each manufacturer having at least one type in their range. So, it seems that now is the time to take a closer look at environmentally friendly automobiles and how they actually work.

Petrol & Diesel

In order to understand these vehicles, it is important to first understand why petrol and diesel automobiles are doing damage to the environment. This is because these vehicles use an internal combustion engine which burns fuel - the burning of fuel creates an emission of greenhouse gases into the air, which are known to contribute to global warming. Additionally, the production of oil is very dangerous and has caused notable damage to the environment, such as the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster in 2010.

Green cars, meanwhile, use less or no toxic fuels and therefore the damage is greatly reduced or non-existent. Electric cars are the most environmentally friendly as they are propelled by at least one electric motor as opposed to a combustion engine. Chemical energy is stored in rechargeable battery packs, which can be charged from renewable energy sources. As there are no tailpipe emissions, this is the best option.

There are also hybrids to consider, which use both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. Whilst they do consume petrol or diesel, they produce much less pollution than petrol and diesel and they consume less fuel thanks to the electric mo-tor.

In addition to the benefit of being better for the environment, they are also a better option than petrol and diesel for a few other reasons. They are cheaper to run because you are not consuming fuel, plus the Government has made incentives that include no or lower road tax and a grant towards an eco-friendly automobile.

These automobiles have been around for a while, with the Toyota Prius being the first mass-produced hybrid in 1997. They have developed significantly since then, which means that now there are some amazing electric vehicles to choose from which feature all kinds of amazing innovations and cutting-edge technology. It is for this reason that some motorists are considering investing in electric supercars, which are the most futuristic looking and impressive vehicles available in the world.

These supercars are breaking all kinds of records and all without doing damage to the environment. Notably, there was the recent announcement of the new Tesla Roadster due in 2020, which company founder Elon Musk claims will deliver a “hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars”. The vehicle promises some breathtaking statistics, including 0-60 in just 1.9 seconds and top speeds of 250 mph.

Electric Cars & Dealerships

It may be a while before we see remarkable electric cars like this on the roads, but there are still plenty of great electric and hybrid automobiles available for affordable prices from places like AA Cars. Despite a dip in new car sales lately, it is easy to see dealerships like this see profits in the near future as more and more motorists begin to embrace the electric car revolution and make the switch. It is a key time in the auto industry, so people will begin to make changes soon which will see a lot of movement in the market.

Diesel and petrol automobiles are becoming archaic not only in the way in which they work, but also with their design as every manufacturer is now focusing all their efforts on electric and hybrid cars. This means that now is a great time to make the switch.
