A Shelby Dayton Coupe is no doubt one of the most sculpturesque automobiles ever created. Its dramatic appearance and performance has been heating blood for last decades. While some companies in the USA and Europe took a challenge to replicate this automobile in sublime or tragic quality, a new Californian company took one step back and two steps forward!Renovo Motors introduces their reinterpretation of the classic style and power icon at Pebble Beach this weekend. Established in 2010, this young company took four years of research & development to put all striking ideas into one place, to embody futurism into the classic shape of the reworked Shelby.Renovo Coupe is based on Shelby American CSX9000 rolling chassis and under the hood it hides twin sequential axial flux motors capable of producing 500 hp at full throttle.  Read more »

Jaguar has issued the following press release:JAGUAR LAND ROVER SPECIAL OPERATIONS REVEALS 'NEW' LIGHTWEIGHT E-TYPEIN BRIEF- Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations has unveiled its ‘new’ Lightweight E-type – hand-built by highly skilled Jaguar craftsmen in a new facility at Browns Lane- The new Lightweight E-type is the first recreation to come from Jaguar Heritage, which operates within the Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations division- Just six customer Lightweight E-types will be built – each assigned one of the remaining chassis numbers originally allocated in 1963 to the intended 18-car 'Special GT E-type' project, of which just 12 were built- The new Jaguar Heritage customer workshop facility at Browns Lane is now open to offer Jaguar warrantied servicing and restoration of classic Jaguar models- In recreating the Lightweight, Jaguar Heritage has drawn on Jaguar's unique engineering and design resources, including the company's world-leading aluminium body technology- The specification includes an aluminium bodyshell with doors, trunklid, hardtop and bonnet also in aluminium, and is assembled to exacting standards- The six-cylinder XK engine mirrors the original power units, with an aluminium block, 'wide angle' aluminium cylinder head and dry sump lubrication- The cars will be sold as period competition vehicles and all will be suitable for FIA homologation for historic motorsport purposes- Only 12 of the original Lightweight E-types were built, all but one leaving Jaguar's Browns Lane competitions department in 1963 (the last car was delivered in 1964)- A prototype Lightweight – ‘Car Zero’ – has been completed and, on 14 August, will be revealed at the opening reception to the Pebble Beach Automotive weekend, the world’s most prestigious classic car event“Special Operations’ remit is to indulge our most discerning and enthusiastic customers’ passion for our cars – including those from our past. The 50‘s and ‘60s - a golden age of artisanal custom-built cars may be well gone into the history books and museum artifacts. Nevertheless, there are still enthusiasts passionately remembering those old days when talented engineers had their cars designed, manufactured and tested with no aid of computers of state-of-the-art technologies which are so common today. In those days, engineering had components of long-term experience, know-how, learning by doing and testing as well as intuition for physics and dynamics. Those skillful individuals built sculptural automobiles which are highly admired and much appreciated even today when a half of century has passed.  A desire for beauty and speed, a nostalgia for the golden age of custom-building have resulted in many guises during decades.  Read more »

This is Elemental. A new road-race car is about to be uncovered this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, before a global premiere, a previously teased sportscar was unveiled virtually with further details being published by this British company.The automobile which is named RP-1 features a carbon structure ensuring both light weight and strength as well as under body aerodynamics. Thanks to the feet up seating position, the center of gravity has been pushed as low as possible, as well.  Read more »

A Turin-based UP Design is teasing a new concept car. You may remember this small Italian studio by their first model – the sculpturesque Vittoria sportscoupe presented a couple of years ago. Now Umberto Palermo is making a world premiere of a new model – the Lucrezia four-seat luxury sports sedan.It will be next Wednesday – 25th of June – when the car will be uncovered at Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile “Avv. A specialty car niche of lightweight track-oriented roadcars is on the wave now. With recent launches of new models like Mexican VŪHL 05, Canadian Magnum MK5 or a British Zenos E10 this section appears to be the most promising one. A newcomer to join the range is named RP-1 and now it is being developed by a newly established company – Elemental Cars – based in Surrey, UK.This is set to be a track-focused road-worthy sportscar envisioned by John Begley – a skillful engineer having past experience in the development of the racing cars and supercars – McLaren F1, 12C and even P1 being in his portfolio.
