Mercury - Sportshauler
Inside the Mercury exhibit area on the upper level of the new McCormick Place. Displayed on a raised/revolving platform, two female models posed with the Montego-based Sportshauler concept car. Notice how the rear section opens for the housing of a separate off-road vehicle. Both women--one standing and one in the driver's seat--are wearing miniskirts, vests, wide belts and white boots.
One is the Sportshauler, a modified 1971 Mercury that will carry two passengers in the front and an all-terrain vehicle [...] in a special compartment behind the passenger seats. The new exotic car, which resembles a production fast-back, is unique in that its rear window and deck lid form a rear door that opens electrically. When the rear is fully open, a tailgate drops to the ground to form a ramp. The stored vehicle then is brought down the ramp by an electric winch. The entire operation is activated by pushing a button on the instrument panel. The all-terrain vehicle can be replaced by a minibike, snowmobile, or other similar recreation vehicle. A glass partition separates the rear compartment from the front seats.
