Protoscar - 911 Shooting Brake

Inspirations

Shooting Brake is a sleek car body configutaion which provides some extra luggage space to the cramped sports coupes which normally do not pay much attention to loading requirements. Originally, the trunk space had to be big enough to accomodate a gun for shooting contests in the English countryside. Nowadays Shootin Brakes are still very rare but have to accomodate golf-clubs rather than weapons.

Looking back to a coupe of decades ago, we find unique Aston Martins, Ferraris and Corvettes converted to Shooting Break configuration; later on, Jaguars and other sports brands were converted too.

We decided to apply this unique body style to a Porsche 911, one of the most sucessful sports cars ever, capable of maintaining its unique and classic shape for over 40 years. Our aim has been, therefore, to adapt our concept to the original 911 configuration, both from a styling and a structural point of view.

The 911 Shooting Brake conversion has required a delicate balance between elegance and sporty shape, and it's a good example to prove our competence in transforming and adapting pur design to whichever car the Client wishes to modify.

Design

For over a decade, Protoscar has been developing one-shot prototypes and show cars for various manufacturers and their suppliers, as well as for private customers. These cars may certainly be used for special advertising or for the film industry.

During these past years, efficient partherships have been established with several well known design houses and specialized craftsmen - such as the composite specialist Esoro Ltd. (www.esoro.ch) or the designer Luciano D'Ambrosio, founder of LD'A Design (www.lda-design.it). These rather unique artistic capabilities, mixed with the newest high-end computers for digital modelling and visualization have become, through the years, the specialized tools of the Protoscar.
