At the 2003 IAA in Frankfurt, Audi premiered the Le Mans quattro, the third concept study of the year. This fascinating sports car depicts Audi’s future formal idiom. It unites passionate design with the very technology that led Audi to three successive victories at the Le Mans 24 hours race. Concept idea The character of the Audi Le Mans quattro can be seen in the fascinating combination of state-of-the-art technology and future Audi design. Formal idiom The distinctive shoulder line, striking wheel arches, single-frame radiator grille and a bold rear are all sporty style elements typical of Audi design. Engine Petrol direct injection and two turbochargers provide the V10 FSI mid-engine with an output of 449 kW (610 bhp) and a peak torque of 750 Nm. Running gear The high-performance aluminium sports suspension is equipped with magnetic ride shock absorbers for first-class sporty driving and a comfortable ride. Cockpit design Dark colours lend the interior a motorsport ambience. Driving-oriented elements such as gearbox and instruments have been consciously incorporated. Materials The vehicle body is made of aluminium and carbon fibre. The main materials used for the interior were aluminium, rubber and leather.
